HIGHLIGHTS

Just outside Placerville on the way to Telluride is nine mile Fall Creek Road that ends within the Uncompahgre Wilderness at Woods Lake.

The lake sits between two 14,000 peaks, Mount Wilson and El Diente, making it an idyllic location that is both beautiful and peaceful.

In addition to the trail around the lake, there are several trails that intersect with the Woods Lake Trail, including the Lone Cone Trail that leads west.

DIRECTIONS

From Ridgway take Colorado 62 west 22 miles to Colorado 145. Turn left, south, and drive through Placerville to Fall Creek Road, about 5 miles. Turn right, west, on Fall Creek Road and drive 9 miles to Woods Lake. The road turns from paved to gravel, to dirt, along the way, but even the dirt road is generally in good shape.

ELEVATION

9,426 feet (Woods Lake).
